I'm currently looking around for a venue in the Gosport area. I'm afraid
that my one-bedroom flat isn't big enough to host much of a show, so I'll
have to hire somewhere.
I'm thinking about holding it at the end of April / early May. The last few
have been on a Saturday, but this one might be on a Sunday. Proposed dates are:
Sat 21 or Sun 22 April, Sat 28 or Sun 29 April, Sat 5 or Sun 6 May (Bank
Holiday weekend).
My preference would be Saturday 28 April, then possibly a visit to Legoland
on the Sunday afterwards. I'd be able to put a few people up for the Friday
or Staurday night.
As I said, I'll be hiring somewhere so I'll have to ask people for a few
quid - I'll keep it under a fiver - though this depends on what I can get
and how many can come.
For those who don't know, Gosport is on the west side of Portsmouth Harbour.
Trains run right down to a pier over the harbour on the Portsmouth side,
with a regular foot ferry across to Gosport.
I have a few venues in mind - one is a function room above a pub with a view
over the Solent and steps down to the (pebbly) beach. This would have to be
on a Sunday though. The other is a much cooler place, but I don't know how
much it will cost yet. I've tried a few community centres, but they've been
fairly small, shabby and quite expensive. Not to mention rude staff.
So, who can make it down here for one of those weekends? I just want a
rough idea of numbers at the moment, and which weekend is best for everyone.
Also let me know if you think it's too soon after Tony's, because I can
always put it off a bit longer - nothing's booked yet.

| (...) Well, I've had a look around, and I've provisionally got a place for Saturday 28th April. You castle nuts are going to love it - it's got it's own moat - Fort Brockhurst: (URL) don't want a lot for a room, and if we're paying for the room the (...)
