  Re: Engine Shed

(...) Thanks for the comments, Hugh. I still don't think windows would look right somehow. (...) *Visually* superior perhaps, but only because LEGO is more of a sculpting medium. Meccano has a definite mechanical advantage due to the strength and precision it derives from being made of steel, brass, etc. Allan B. (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: International Society of Meccanomen

Simon, It sounds like you have them on the back foot, move in for the kill. :) I had a look for these "men" on the web. All I found were a handful of sites of varying quality and loads of dead links and non-existent images. Perhaps Todd should (...) (23 years ago, 22-Aug-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: `Why Britain needs more Meccano and less Lego'

(...) I can only speculate that Sir Harry is referring to Meccano's Golden Age, which was anytime prior to the late 1960's. Meccano, in it's day, offered sets which allowed for an amazing range of building possibilities. They offered an astounding (...)   Re: International Society of Meccanomen

(...) Ya that WOULD be funny, eh?... let the media stage a big "debate", make sure it's on live TV, and then have a love-in and refuse to disagree with anything the other side says, but instead make snide comments about the media...   Re: International Society of Meccanomen

I was looking forward to a verbal punch up with the Meccanoist's but if their going to be reasonable about things, that takes away all the fun!! :-) (I'm joking) I like the idea of a combined front, but I'd love to be a fly on the wall of their AGM (...)
