Hi , I hope it's the right place for this question, if it's not please excuse me. I won an auction at ebay and sent the seller (a Canadian seller) a US bank cheque. A while has passed and to my (3) inquiries he claimed he didn't get the cheque. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) Hmmm, I wouldn't hold your breath for the set...this guy is either very slow to get stuff done, or he's just plain dishonest. (...) It's possible, but not usual. Like Ralph's, my bank in Vancouver BC allows me to access the money immediately but if a check bounced they would of course debit my account again. I allow 10 days for clearing, but since I've never had a check (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

(...) I did some digging on US Cheques in Canadian banks before I started selling on ebay. Some Banks hold the cheques for 30 days! If you don't have a US account set up they can hold it for that long. It takes 3 times the time to ensure that a (...) (25 years ago, 20-Mar-00, to lugnet.loc.ca)

It really depends on the bank and your credit. I have two accounts at different banks. At Canada Trust, they want to hold US cheques for 30 business days -- that's nearly a month and a half when you factor in weekends and the odd holiday. This even (...)
