Let me all fill you in.
(Scene:  Calum's cubicle, March 2000. Calum presses the Chris Magno button
on his rtlToronto Global Ops Command Hotline Phone *(aka his desk phone) and
calls Chris.)

Calum:  Hey Chris.  It's me.  Don't you think it's a great idea to do a
BrickFest in Canada?  Some guys are doing it in like, Virginia of all
places.  We should do one too.  We could make t-shirts!

Chris:  Can't talk.  (explosion in background)  I'm doing a show. (chainsaw
sound, screaming)

Calum:  (ignores part about can't talk) So, what do you think?  We could
make shirts!

Chris:  Sounds like too much work to me. (Backstreet Boys pulling each
others hair out in background)  Forget about it.

Calum: Aw man!  But what about the shirts?

Other than a BIG hall rented for a few days, with 24/h access, and maybe
a breakout room or 2, would the event not run itself?

I think so.  I'm thinking the Valdi Hospitality Centre in Woodbridge :)

on one half of the room, an on going robot game, the same robots
fighting over and over again.  when people get bored of that, they
wander over to the second half of the room and watch a big train
layout.   (then when they see the train go around the track once, they
get bored and leave, back to Robots.)

Of course, those are the same people who think the words "Four Bar Motion"
are some sort of universal puzzle....but anyways.  Yes, this sounds so far
very much like a double rtlToronto event so far.

maybe we have a corner dedicated to peoples displays.  VERY informal, we
can set up row upon row of tables and if people want to grab a chair and
set up a MOC then it can be "trade show" like.

Hrm.  Never thought about this one before.  That would be really cool!
Something for people to show off

in one "room" we can lock up all the brick warz (loonies) and they can
have a 3 day war hammer game.   every couple of hours we throw in a bag
of chips and a case of coke.  they'll be set.

That sounds about right.

that leaves 2 corners and a room for whatever else we want.
self running, and very come as you are.

That certainly sounds like an rtlToronto event.

What about seminars and workshops?  Something about...robotics design?  A
new programming language like pbForth?  Successfully using ebay?  Does
anyone care?  Does anyone like these things?  Is this too much like BrickFest?

invite the guy from St. Jacobs to haul in some inventory and sell
stuff......

Yup, that sounds about right as well.

Calum
