  Re: Do you ever wonder...

Howdy all, I've just been reading this thread and I'm surprised at the number of Lego fans in the areas outside of Toronto. I'm from the Harriston area (approx 1 hour north of Kitchener) but my job requires me to travel quite a bit. I pass through (...) (21 years ago, 11-Apr-03, to lugnet.loc.ca.on)

  RE: Do you ever wonder...

Hi, I live in Kitchener and my in-laws are in London. I was at the Toy Shop last summer and at their old store (on Hyde Park Road past Fanshawe). It has a nice selection, however I found it a bit on the pricey side. I guess if there was something I (...) (21 years ago, 7-Apr-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

(...) And I looked for you the last time I was there, but didn't see you. ;) O.K. that's not true. I just bought a couple of the 1/2 price Twin-pod Cloud Cars... but it did cross my mind that another adult fan had been there. Have you been to the (...)   Re: 40th Anniversary of LEGO in Canada?

(...) Yes, and perhaps I wasn't entirely clear in my initial post. That's what I was trying to express though... that it was my belief that this was the 40th anniversary of that event. Perhaps the linkage to the product that was available was a bit (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: 40th Anniversary of LEGO in Canada?

(...) Sorry if I wasn't clear. 1998 _was_ the 35th anniversary of LEGO being sold in Canada (originally by Samsonite). LEGO Canada (sniff, I miss S@H Canada) took over from Samsonite around 1988/89 (I have a 1988 Samsonite catalogue, and a 1989 LEGO (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: 40th Anniversary of LEGO in Canada?

(...) I thought about this some more. I took a look at one of the buckets. It says, "35 Years of Building Imaginations". 35 years must mark some sort of event, anniversary etc. 35 years from what beginning point? Granted they may have been (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: 40th Anniversary of LEGO in Canada?

(...) If that's the case, then you're likely correct. No need to celebrate 30 years. It just seemed odd to me that we got the "35th" buckets and then this year there was just nothing. So... was LEGO in Canada in 1963 then? It was my impression that (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.ca)

Re: 40th Anniversary of LEGO in Canada?

(...) I think you are missing something big here. We didn't have 35th anniversary buckets in Canada because it was the 35th anniversary of LEGO being sold in Canada, we had repackaged (different outer bucket, no silver 2 x 4 brick) buckets from the (...) (22 years ago, 1-Mar-03, to lugnet.loc.ca)
