Re: Updated list of Service Packs at LA —Dave Low
(...) Great info Deidre. Question for the Tech-heads: is this the best way to get supplementary bits and bobs for Mindstorms? Or are the expansion sets better value? The RIS gets more and more tempting... is GBs/Myer (at 20-25% off) still the best (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Low" <stinglessbee@hotSPA...Email.com> (...) bits (...) I think most of the expansion packs are pretty ordinary, and overpriced. It really depends on what you are after, for just ordinary Technics stuff, look (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

(...) It (...) look (...) I'll second that. For the cost of the expansion packs combined, you could probably pick up a 8480 Space Shuttle on e-bay, which has loads more useful stuff for robotics or just plain technics. Motor, micromotor, polarity (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

(...) bits (...) IMHO there are only 2 sets to buy: * RIS itself (which gives you an RCX, 2 touch sensors and a light sensor, and 2 motors * Ultimate Accessory Kit (remote control, another touch sensor, a rotation sensor, a light, and some other (...)          Re: Updated list of Service Packs at LA —Ross Crawford
(...) I second all of that. And I'd also recommend trying to get hold of a RIS 1.0 - especially if you're planning to do a lot of programming. The AC power jack is real handy, and saves heaps on batteries. I still haven't seen anyone say definitely (...) (24 years ago, 21-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

Re: Updated list of Service Packs at LA —Deidre Rushton Brumby
(...) No pictures for the Mindstorms parts, I'd assumed it was the control tower but it could equally well be the remote control, hadn't thought of that! If no-one else finds out in the meantime I'll check on this next time I talk to LA. (...) (...) (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)

(...) 8?) Actually, now that I see it, Diedre just doesn't *look right*! But that's probably just cos I'm used to seeing your sig at the bottom of posts... ROSCO (24 years ago, 22-Feb-01, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.org.au)
