> Probably the most important considerations are:
1) Who is the intended audience of the event?
Until we know who we are wanting to come to this event, it is impossible to
come up with answers to most of the questions.
E.g. if we want international visitors in droves, then Sydney is the best
city, as it has the highest profile for overseas people and most
international flights arrive there (thus reducing the time and cost of
travel)
E.g. if we want to attract local school children, then holding it in school
holidays might be important.
E.g. if we want to attract adult fans within Australia, then school holidays
is a bad idea as it pushes up accommodation costs
Who is our primary target group? Which are our next priorities? Which are
not so important to us?
Once you know who you want to come (and in what priority), then the answers
to the other questions will follow fairly naturally. The reason we have so
many possibilities is precisely because we do not know who we want to come.
2) What is the budget? What are the expenses? Where is the income coming
from? Where do we get a float from (to cover costs prior to income being
available)? Do we have an underwriter (to cover any losses)?
Kerry, who organises far too many events at work to want to do them
recreationally :-)
