Actually, there's a little shop in Legoland California that sells by weight
and occasionally has some rather unusual parts.  When I saw those tiles, I
knew exactly what I was going to do with them.

Do you mind sharing which shop or shops are the best for finding unusual
parts?  I noticed a couple of these shops last year at BricksWest, but it
was right before closing and I didn't have time to look for cool parts.  I
also remember there were a lot of little shops, but only some seemed to have
the sell-by-weight thing, and I don't remember any names of the shops.  @8^/

Would be nice stop by them at this year's BW and see what's there.

Thanks,

Well, there is the Maniac Clubhouse. It is in Funtown, by the driving school
and the large firefighter statue they put up. But their selection of parts
has become sad as of late. Last year during BW time they had the bins full
of the older service packs and lots of hard to get parts. lol, I still think
they have not recovered from BW last year.

But it honestly appears as if they have stopped putting effort into the bulk
bricks selection. The vast majority of the parts they have now are from
K8's, so the selection is totally random. They are now selling wheel/tires
now, but all they have left is the smaller sizes - but if you need them,
then this would be good for you.

The only other place you can buy bulk is the Build and Race (there are other
convos about it in .legoland.california) From what I have seen, they get the
same parts form the same K8's as the maniac clubhouse. And it is not really
worth buying from there - as almost every part in there looks like it has
been thru a war.

Maybe I am looking at the selection thru old eyes. I go to Legoland so often
maybe I am just bored with the selection of bulk bricks they have there. In
the last year I think the only bulk I have bought from the park is about
2,000 of the light cover globes in trans red and trans blue. IMHO the
selection at S@H is better than currently at LLCA.

(...) Mark is dead on, the buckets in the clubhouse that contain the bulk, by weight stuff has been throughly picked through, and often chewed. Do your Legoland police need a new place to hang out? One with a little more style than that Dunkin' somethin' down the street? One that is well-protected? Send 'em to Joe's!
