WHY OH WHY can something like this not happen at Legoland, California?

Are we not special?
Do you think there is not a market for this?
Do you think we do not want it?

The thing that gets me is this is not their first one. I *wish* I could be
there. And if I could, I would - trust me!

I would think this would be a great idea to have at LL CA. I know that I
would be there in a heartbeat. What do we have to do to get one of these??
Seriously, what do we have to do???

You may have read in lugnet.loc.uk about the fantastic time had by attendees
at the LEGO Modelmaking experience at LEGOLAND Windsor in April.

I am pleased to announce that, thanks to our recent meeting with the
LEGOLAND specialist sales manager, the next one, on 10th August, will be
even better!

The event will consist of a presentation by the chief model maker, a guided
tour of Miniland, a visit to the Creation Centre, and most importantly for
some, 1 Kg of LEGO to take away. Last time the selection of parts available
included many that were unobtainable elsewhere, such as silver bricks,
Maersk blue parts by the truck load, clear bricks, plates and tiles, slopes
in unusual colours and so on.

One thing not mentioned here about the last one was that we were taken into
‘LEGO Heaven’ – the Creation Centre stock room where virtually every part
was available in every colour imaginable. We kept this quiet for obvious
reasons, but now, with LEGOLAND Windsor’s approval, I can announce that this
event will again include a trip into Heaven! Do not expect to be able to
make a wild grab at everything in sight (like last time!) but you will have
the opportunity to select a small number of rare parts to add to your 1Kg of
bricks.

The park’s management really wants this event to be a success, so this time
they are putting extra effort into making it so. Not only will they make
sure there is an interesting selection of parts available for us, but the
Big Shop will be offering all attendees a 10% discount on all purchases, and
we have been told that they will be stocking ‘six exclusive special AFOL
offers’ bought in specially for this event (no details what they might be
yet, though).

The cost of this fantastic event is just 69 GBP. For this you will get:

Entry to the park on the day
The 4 hour experience
The rest of the day in the park to do as you please
1Kg of LEGO, including many otherwise unobtainable parts.
A ticket to allow entry to the park another day.
The opportunity to meet likeminded AFOLs and put names to faces

For more details and information on booking a place, please see

If you're planning on coming from far afield, LEGOLAND Windsor has
negotiated discount rates at nearby hotels. Full details are on the above
page.

If you have any questions about the event, please feel free to ask. Note
that unlike last time, we are booking up individually -- this is a breeze
through the Red Letter Days website.

Hope to see you there!

Huw

I'm sure they know we want this in America, but I don't think it is possible. Last I knew, all the models for the California Park were being built in England. If this is true then there just aren't any master builder workspaces at the LL CA. And no (...) (22 years ago, 1-Jun-02, to lugnet.legoland.california, lugnet.dear-lego)
