  ldraw.org Kidvention Thanks

Hey everybody.. I'd like to take the time to thank many people who played a critical role in making the LDraw demonstration at Kidvention a successful event. First off, A HUGE thanks goes out to Lego Direct - Brad Justus, Heidi Bailey, & Heidi's (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland, lugnet.events, lugnet.cad, lugnet.lego.direct)

GMLTC says "Thanks!" to LEGOLAND California

On behalf of all of us in the Greater Midwest LEGO Train Club, THANK YOU for allowing us to display our train layout at Kidvention 2000!! We were treated very well, and we had a great time. All the people we talked to (MCs and 'Guests') seemed to (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.events, lugnet.legoland.california, lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

Actually, those mock-ups weren't described to me as Throwbots in any way shape of form. They looked incredible, especially the larger ones. In terms of size, they were taller than Millennia and wider too. Few (if any) Throwbot parts were evident in (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) I don't know why you 'couldn't' if in fact that was the case. But I do know that I didn't, cause I barely got the opportunity to take pictures while I was there. I took about 90 of them up by our display, but about half of them I gave the (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) Nick, much of the throwbots prototype stuff was not even made of ABS. It was just a plasticene mockup of possible designs or directions to take the line. Or perhaps even an entirely different line. And most were very crude. Practically molded (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) The "much" part. I was just asking incase it had a big sign on it or was moving around like crazy. Why couldn't you take pictures of the movie maker? It was on lego.com??? (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) What part of 'I wasn't paying much attention' is difficult to understand? -Tim (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) Did you notice if the throwbots had glow-in-the-dark, electronic, transparent or any other special pieces? NICK :^\ (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) I really have no idea. I'm not much of a Throwbot fan, so I didn't pay that much attention. I was busier talking to the Technic model designers. -Tim (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) Did the throwbots have new pieces or roborider heads? (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) Nope. All prototypes. That was meaning that what you saw there was _not_ guaranteed to make production. They even had a technic car with spraypainted yellow panels, because those pieces weren't made in yellow (even internally!). -Tim (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

And (...) the tires were 6in high, 6in wide, like drag-racing bikes, also had 2 regular bikes, they looked like harleys. the throwbots were new designs, lloked like a cyborg-alien type mix, lots of chrome. -Philip (...)   Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) heard (...) Were they new throwbots or privious failures or attempts to make neat ones? And exactly how big are ENORMOUS tires (6in? 8ft?) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) Something to that effect. They had a few really cool Technic motorcycles with ENORMOUS tires. The technic stuff was really cool, especially talking to the designers face to face. I didn't pay much attention to the throwbots, but the Silver (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) : (...) What are the prototypes of throwbots, supercars & dynamite low riders (I heard of them in a previous message)??? NICK ;^D (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Re: Kidvention still running?

(...) I don't believe so. Brick By Brick (the display) was set up only for Kidvention, and only those with Kidvention passes were allowed inside. Sorry : \ -Tim (24 years ago, 17-Jul-00, to lugnet.legoland)

  Kidvention still running?
