Hello all!

As you know, we recently released LEGO Digital Designer. We are privledged to have two developers from this team who will float around the discussions here and answer some of the questions that come up. As you can imagine, these folks are very busy getting the LDD finalized, so please direct all questions here and respect that there is much that they aren’t able to discuss publicly yet.

Marc Sutton
Marc has joined our group all the way from Australia! Marc is one of the members of the LEGO team at QubeSoft, the group we are working with on the development of the LDD software. Marc previously completed the LEGO title “Creator: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, writing the game and 3D (non-engine) code. He has also worked on “The Calcaphon Chronicles”, preparing it for an E3 demo.

At Qube today he’s in charge of the LEGO SDK project, taking off where the previous QubeSoft head developer left off, working on enhancements to speed, stability and documentation. He’s also a programmer on LEGO Digital Designer where I write the game code and handle interaction with the SDK.

Martin Prüss
Martin works in the LEGO technology group, and has been integral in the development of the LDD software and LXF file format. Martin is working out of Billund, Denmark.

Marc and Martin will be only answering questions about LXF and LDD at this time. Be sure to give them both a warm welcome to the community.

If you have general feedback about the usability of the app itself, be sure to drop a line to: digitaldesigner@lego.com.

Thanks!
Jake

I can't believe nobody has replied to this yet! I am excited about this new software. I downloaded it and tried it out. The only problem I had was the bitmap versions of the parts inventory on the right of the screen did not render properly. At (...) (21 years ago, 13-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.lego.direct, FTX)

(...) The ancient legends from our Dreamtime tell of our people travelling in the stomach of the giant white bird Goorgoorgaga to distant shores. Could these stories really be true? Kerry (21 years ago, 14-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.loc.au)

I downloaded LDD immediately at the time, but I didn't get to responding before. My main regret is that the system requirements and program size (download time) are so bloatingly huge. After I dowloaded the whole thing and installed it, I was (...) (21 years ago, 27-Jun-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.lego.direct, FTX)
