A funny thing that I noticed wrt changes in train wheels happened right
around 1996, specifically in set 2126 (the 4 train cars). It seems that the
center hole is not "true" center or the wheels where not "true" round. I
recall making several 2 axle train cars using these wheels and observe ring
that the cars rocked side to side as they rolled down the track. I recall
inspecting them closely by looking directly over the wheel tread aligning it
with a fixed spot and rotating the wheel. My observations where that the
wheel tread was bobbing up and down relative to the fixed spot; once per
rotation. This effect seems to be more masked when running cars on bogies by
an averaging effect.
I thought I mentioned this back then but can't find the post.
