  Re: $Here’s the Deal$

(...) Indeed this is a better idea…and even extends the concept of variants to include color but not be limited solely by such. However, I think it is most prudent to take ‘baby-steps’ with Lego Direct. Nothing too dynamic, that’s why a simple color (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)

(...) [Thank-you] See, now TLG has no reason not to go forward with “Variants.” ~Cause it’s been done before, precedent has been set! :) --==RïçhårÐ==-- (22 years ago, 29-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

(...) Aha, are you pondering what i'm pondering? I want to see a revamp of the technic back hoe released in 1989.   Re: $Here’s the Deal$

(...) These are some good ideas - I don't think there's much potential in simple colour variants of sets. Using more realistic colours may appeal to adult builders who are after the parts, but I don't think they'd have the broad market appeal (...)   Re: $Here’s the Deal$

(...) Let's not put words in the mouth of Brad Justus. I asked this question at BrickFest because it needed to be asked, but I was less than satisfied with the answer given.   More SpyBotics Info

All, Looks like there is still some confusion about the memory in the Spybotics module. I just got this from someone who knows much more about the details than I do: The EEPROM device that we use holds four kilobytes (that's 32 kilobits), of which (...) I noticed the description actually was augmented later. Thanks! Also thanks for the extra info on Spybotics passed by in news/robotics. (22 years ago, 25-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: B-unit kit...??

(...) or (...) (mostly (...) Dear Santa Fe Fans! Sorry, but I see no bigger need for a B-Unit-pack. As far as I see the market situation TLC can only support us AFOLs with a limited amount of sets.   Re: B-unit kit...??

(...) I think that this may be the right approach. The market for B units is obviously a lot smaller, so a "parts pack" that includes the extra grey bricks, door pieces, and two extra windows would be all that is needed. Probably 80% of the parts (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: Spybotics demo followup questions

(...) Well, I for one hope that you continue to favor serial over USB. It makes it a lot easier for those of us not on the bleeding edge, and those of us who use Linux or other alternative OS's.   Re: B-unit kit...??

  Re: B-unit kit...??

(...) Since the B is all grey, you basically need 2 A unit models to make one B or you have to compromise on how the roof is done. Even then you're off on the portholes (many B's have 3 grey ones). You then end up with a lot of (mostly useful) (...) (22 years ago, 24-Jul-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)
