Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant —James Powell
(...) It will not make much of a difference. I don't know how many machines Enfield has, but I would suspect less than 25 injection molding machines (if they are laying off 100 people...)          Re: Lego To Close Molding, Processing at Enfield, CT plant —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Really! I would think that 100 people (per shift) could support 3-400 molding machines. The machines don't need full time attendants. Do we have an industrial engineer from the plastics industry in the house? I'm guessing. ++Lar (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

(...) But he is guessing just right. an automatic injection molding machine does not require a full time operator. One operator could easily oversee 20-30 machines, with enough automation is utilized, and I know Lego is very good at that. Selçuk (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Larry Tells All... (was Re: Lego To Close Molding, etc.) —James Powell
(...) I'll add in here, that I was guessing. I was figuring around 5 machines/operator, and a fair overhead/support. For example, if you don't have any production, you don't require _any_ QA.
