  Statue of Liberty #3450 Status

I've just heard from a colleague that in Europe, we are about to sell through the Statue of Liberty (#3450) set. It's had an amazing run, and was the second LEGO Direct exclusive set. There's a lot of history wrapped up in that set. There are no (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.lego.announce)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Haha that reminds me - the only 2004+ set I have is 4492 MINI Star Destroyer. It's sitting here in the original plastic container, minus all the non-bley pieces. I'd be happy to send this back to TLC with a letter to help prove our point! (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) This is a GREAT suggestion. I would part with a few new gray plates and a couple of 1x2 "old gray" plates, to make the point. I would add, why not put in some pics of various MOCS that have been displayed at shows, and on the WEB, that make (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Great points. Facts=Good. Pictures=best way to represent color facts. Actual parts are even better than pictures. We'll have to think of some way to incorporate your idea above. (Kind of like "Exhibit #1" at a court trial - I like it) I think (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Well, they've been around for MORE than 20 years (1977 for dark grey and 1974/77 for brown, if you count the maxifig hair which probably wasn't ABS). So, yeah, maybe saying "more than 20 years" or "more than 25 years" (nice round number). (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

OK Folks, I know I made a fuss about still whining about the color change after a year, but you folks are now NOT whining, your actually doing something. Yes, I would support and sign that letter. Although I rarely build with gray parts, I do use a (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: I love Lego

(...) That's ok, they probably wonder the same thing about you too. (...) That's just it - they don't need a chief. They just wanna build stuff with LEGO. ROSCO (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.lego)

Re: Color change: Let's go straight to the CEO!

(...) I don't know specifically, but I would assume (note the word "assume") that since the entire Spider-man line is licensed, that the licensing body would have a say in the design, or the fact that so many licensed figures (Mary Jane, Peter (...)   Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) Actually, I 100% agree with you there (and did before I posted) - and the LEGO magazines I've seen for 10+ yrs proves your point. I agree that brick size and shape are MUCH more important (and hinted at that in the letter, so it didn't appear (...) (22 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

(...) There is a factual error here. Dark grey and brown have not been around for 20 years. You probably want to annex the letter with a detailed description of which colours have changed, with a photo, or even real parts, as an example if you want. (...)   Re: Color change: **CEO Draft Letter**

Thanks for the feedback. (...) Good Point. I argued that internally as well, and thought that the promise on color consistency was a stretch (at best) so it's good to see some opinions that support that counter-point of view. Please also see my (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.color, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) I'll bet the rules are still subject to change. If anyone has an opinion, about what would be better, they should express it to Jake and Jan Steve (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) Sorry for taking so long to follow-up on this! A few answers from Jan: The Programming environment: You will get a normal Mindstorms set from us, the latest version. Software: see above, normal LEGO Mindstorms Software Jake --- Jake McKee (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) Three hours for building and programming is *extremely* tight, even with a second two hour session the next day if everything had to be done from scratch. I've run a couple of competitions that way, but only because more time wasn't available. (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) The main thing is that it's even for everyone. Allowing everyone to bring pre-written code is fair. On the other hand, not allowing anyone to bring pre-written code would also be fair. It kind of comes down to how they want to organize the (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) Huh. They might want to clarify/restrict that, just a bit. Unless they really mean for people to write all their code ahead of time, and bring it with them. Steve (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Is set #4886 a Europe/Oceana exclusive?

(...) I'm very interested in 4886 as well. Hopefully someone from shop@home can post an update on when or if these will be avaiable in the US/Canada. Mark (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

(...) How about 2 "Touch" sensors? I thought the same thing, the first time I read it (when Jan replied to my e-mail, earlier today :) Steve (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)

Re: to LEGO factory : You are not being fair.

(...) Probably because it's as much a learning experience for them as it is for the entrants. (Almost) Every dynamic website such as this has "growing pains" when it is first set up. It will get ironed out. Wait, you iron out wrinkles, not growing (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: AFOLs and Mindstorms

I got answers to a some of the questions we've been asking from Jan Beyer about the contest. Question: There seems to be two aspects to the competition. You mention registration is required by February "so you can work at home", as well as an event (...) (22 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.robotics)
