Sanjay,

I use a Kodak DC260 to take my pictures, and for the most part they come out
pretty well.

One thing I've noticed is that low lighting seems to be a problem, with • many
pictures of LEGO cities turning out more yellow or off colour than they
should be.

The built in flash has a maximum range of 9.6 feet.  I'd stick to about 5
feet though, because at 10 feet, the center will be brighter then the edges.

I tried using bright lights, like a 300 watt halogen, but this didn't help
any.  The pictures actually came out darker, as the light kept the flash
from going off.

I also intend to take a number of close up shots as well.  Are there any
tricks to taking pics of this type which aren't fuzzy or are only clear in
the centre of the shot?

The DC260 does NOT have a "macro" setting, allowing you to get really close.
The auto focus also does not work at all really close up.  Your best option
is to fully "zoom" the camera, and take the picture from as close as it will
let you focus (about 1.5-2 feet)

Keep in mind also when doing close ups, that the image you see through the
view finder is NOT exactly what will be taken.  You will need to aim high,
so that everything is in the frame.  How high you have to aim is dependant
on how close you are (closer=higher).  Sometimes I have to aim so high that
you can't even see the bottom in the viewfinder, but it comes out OK in the
picture.

(If you'd like to see a few of the pictures, check out any of my auctions,
or I can e-mail you some of my current and previous projects)

Troy

I'm hoping to get my hands on a high res digital camera (1) (still not video) to take a few pics of the LEGO City I'm constructing. But before I do I'm keen to hear other people views on how to get the best out of these cameras. One thing I've (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)
