LEGO® Recalls Remote Controls (8879 Power Functions)

LEGO® Recalls Remote Controls LEGO Systems Inc., of Enfield, Connecticut has recalled about 1.600 of its Power Functions IR Remote Controls, the U.S. consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. The recall has been initiated because (...) (15 years ago, 22-Jul-09, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: What's the story with all the recent mold changes?

The only one I have any info on is the (URL) cylinder>. Someone from LEGO (don't remember who) said that the (URL) previous version> was made up of pieces that were glued together inside. (This makes sense that it would have to be, otherwise how (...) (15 years ago, 20-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, lugnet.parts, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: What's the story with all the recent mold changes?

(...) I noticed that one as well, but the second change makes less sense. The first one, I'd guess was to relieve stress when an axle is pushed through the hole, and help prevent the bricks from splitting in half. The second change, they filled in (...)   Re: What's the story with all the recent mold changes?

I'm no expert in plastics (okay, I know nothing about plastics) but I'd like to offer a few theories. Technic 1x2 Brick - perhaps the failure/reject rate is lower with fewer sharp corners for the plastic to have to flow into? Functionally still (...) (15 years ago, 20-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

What's the story with all the recent mold changes?

Hey all, It seems to me that since Lego began outsourcing their brick production, a lot of needless mold changes have occurred. The first one I noticed was the 1x2 brick with Technic axle hole (which no longer has the nice cross/plus design), then (...) (15 years ago, 20-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

  RailBricks Blog

Just a heads up that in the past few weeks the RailBricks blog has taken off with a good post on Lego trains coming from any one of the contributors every couple of days. If things stay at this pace, for the Lego train fan it is worth a look at (...) (15 years ago, 19-Jul-09, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general, FTX)

  Re: Brickshelf empty?

(...) Just the thing I was looking for. I started looking into this when Matija Puzar mentioned the NNTP protocol (which I vaguely remember using several aeons ago) and this got me on the right track. However, I have found that - as opposed to what (...) (15 years ago, 18-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Brickshelf empty?

(...) If you read lugnet with a newsreader (Outlook Express, XanaNews for example), instead of using the web interface, there's no problem keeping track of what you have read. XanaNews can probably be configured as a 'portable application' so you (...) (15 years ago, 18-Jul-09, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Brickshelf empty?

I think both policing and specializing is a bad thing. Policing, hiding stuff never solves the problems. Better bash it out in the open and deal with it. Sure, pure trolls need to go and there are limits. I moderate in Swedens largest bicycle forum (...) (15 years ago, 17-Jul-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)
