Hello,
I have been on a pick-a-brick-type of sale; you pick the bricks you want
from large box'es and fill a bag, and you pay only a fixed prices for each
bag.
Most of the time it is not parts that I want or strange parts, i.e: when you
find a wing, it is mostly the left wing, and often in strange colors...
But the price/brick is cheap anyway and you can find something useful some
times.
I found some strange pieces that I wonder where they are used, and I can't
find the partnumber for them either. I don't even know what to call them :)
The brick is 2x2 and 8 high and have grooves along each side and a pin on
the top. In the bottom there is a axel hole. Those I have found is red. I've
used them as columns in this building:

The garage in that picture is almost only built of parts found in just one
raid I have had on this Pick-A-Brick sale. The plates on the roof is from
the 3451 Sopwith Camel set.
But what is the partnumber for those red columns?
And what are the used for?
Those grooves, is there something special that should fit to them? The
thickness of the groove is the same as an Technic Flex-System Hose

A search for "2 x 2 x 8" on Peeron yielded up a short list of results that contained (URL) this> That appears to be exactly what you've got, though they don't have any inventory lists showing red ones. Or white ones, which is odd, because (...) (20 years ago, 31-Oct-04, to lugnet.general, FTX)
