I just noticed that for a relatively high-strung newsgroup, lugnet.off-topic.debate has only about 60 threads, but contains around 1,200 messages in it (as of today), making an average of 20 messages per thread. Or did you also count a new thread each time the subject (minus the Re:) changed? How about when discussions migrate out of (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

| | | | (...) Actually, I got the number of threads just by counting the number of thread lines in my nntp client's "thread view". I'm assuming that Netscape Collabra defines the start of a thread as either a message which has no References: header, or a (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)
