It used to be that a public notary in the US could verify
importation of whatever was purchased, notarize it, and you
post the form back to the shop. You would then get your VAT
back. I could be fairly certain that with the EEC as it is
now, you couldn't.
However........ If the store from where you purchased it is
able to ship internationally, then you can get it deducted
at source. Worth enquiring. (I would doubt that would be an
option with Beatties, though).
I would imagine LLW ships, and IIRC, do do the VAT-form
thingie.
