I think the crew at Carlsbad don’t get this as much as the people in Enfield. I’ve spent a morning at the model shop in Enfield, at the time they were building several hundred (several thousand?) copies of ‘toucan sam’ for a breakfast cereal promotion. I built just two of them, and I was ready for a change! (I’m trying to find a picture, I’ll repost if I can get it.)

In Carlsbad, the only time you might build several copies of something is if it’s something small, like a light pole or the balcony on a building. Most of the stuff they do is one-of-a-kind models, like the characters and landmarks.

There would also be a LOT of public time, meeting with park guests, promotions, special events, and such.

Personally, I’d *love* the job, they’d have to chase me out of there when the model shop closes at night. <sigh>

Hmmm... Maybe I could run a Bricklink store on the side in order to make more money? Think of the unique pieces I’d find at the model shop!! *grin*

(...) was thinking of trying out anyway just for the experience. My concern is that it might take a spot from someone who actually COULD take the job and that might not be very fair. I dunno. Jake? I think it's a neat idea even if it's a publicity (...) (21 years ago, 8-Oct-03, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)
