There is no way I can afford to actually take the job (relocation, pay), but I
was thinking of trying out anyway just for the experience. My concern is that it
might take a spot from someone who actually COULD take the job and that might
not be very fair. I dunno. Jake?
I think it's a neat idea even if it's a publicity stunt.
Tangentially... I have to sort of agree with what John Gerlach said, the job of
Modelbuilder is likely not to fit people's expectations at all... it's likely to
be very constraining, especially when you have to build the same thing more than
once... personally I'd really rather be a set designer, except that I'm not sure
I can comfortably fit in THAT box either, it's pretty constraining too, I
expect.
Well, there's always the MOC program, I guess.
As an aside I spoke to at least two people at NWBrickCon who made conscious
decisions to "downshift their lifestyle" for a while so that they could spend
some time working for LEGO... in at least one case, they later returned to their
"real career"...
Interesting idea, if you have your house in order enough to enable yourself to
do that.

I've spent a morning at the model shop in Enfield, at the time they were building several hundred (several thousand?) copies of 'toucan sam' for a breakfast cereal (...)
