  Old Lego colors

Gary's question about the red stripe reminded me of something. Take a look at those pics of the old sets: note the preponderance of red and white, and then yellow. (...) My early 70s of Lego were that red, white & blue were common, whereas black & yellow were rare, and other colors unheard of, except for green trees and baseplates. I think I had a few grey bricks of some kind, but they did not become at all (...) (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Not sure about LEGO, but American Bricks were predominately red with a few white. No blue, yellow, black. A few windows and doors, but no roofs. (26 years ago, 13-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Old Lego colors

(...) I think that's right. My old lego had no colored plates of any size, but we did have white plates (with square holes underneath) in 4x8, 6x8 (just one) and 2x8. There were also some 4x8 with curved corners. I used to think there were smaller (...) (26 years ago, 14-May-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Old Lego colors

I remember back in about 1970 when I inherited my sister's old Lego, there were lots of red and white basic bricks. I also recall there were some pinkish bricks. I recall being puzzled about them, and assuming they were incredibly old bricks that (...) (26 years ago, 15-May-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Tore, It is quite possible that by the time LEGO made black bricks, they started producing the ABS plastic bricks. It's possible that maybe none of the black bricks were made of Cellulose Acetate, which warped over time. Even Cellulose (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)
