I got to work this morning and was ready to catch up on last night's LUGNET
post while I had my morning Dr. Pepper and what do I find out?! My company's
proxy server is now blocking "web chatting" sites, basicly all news servers
(plus internet auction sites)! They've always blocked game sites, adult
sites and a few others, but this blocking of news server sites is awful.
What will I do all day not knowing what is going on in the LEGO world?!
I did send an email in protest and made up some pretty lame reasons why I
need to access news.lugnet.com, so we'll see if they buy it.
A co-worker has ofter to set me up an account on an off site server that he
runs where I connect to it via the web and can browse out to where ever I
want, so I'll have to see how that works. Of course they'll probally figure
that one out some day and block access to it also.
Well for now I'll have to get my LUGNET fix before I go to work.

| JT, I hear ya! Perhaps you could argue the fact that you are a main character in the Train group you are involved in and that staying involved and up to date is a neccesity for the better of the group, not to mention being a liason between the Train (...) | OUCH! They took away yahoo, hotmail, and all the other web-based e-mail from my company, but fortunately, they haven't blocked lugnet or e-bay just yet... keeping my fingers crossed. One other solution (if you don't have an ISDN phone like I do..) (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

| Where I used to work they allowed unrestricted access to the internet. My new job however, they only have one computer. If you want one you bring it in yourself, but there's no connecting to the internet. Eric, Nicole's bro in law "James J. (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

| I too recently experienced trouble with accessing LUGNET from a university system. I suspected the implementation of some network traffic software that prioritizes information and file transfers. I thought that the browser was simply timing out (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

| (...) I also know how you feel, James. About three months ago, my employer updated its firewall, and ever since I have found that although I can *read* Lugnet from work, I cannot *post* to it. After writing a couple semi-lengthy posts only to never (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)

| Yippie! I got it back....kind of :) I set up Microsoft Terminal Server on my home machine and now I'm connecting to it using it's direct IP address and then browsing the web from there. The only concern is the fact that I don't have a static IP (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jun-02, to lugnet.general)
