have fired Rob Ellis who was in charge of the department • that developed
and released Alpha Team and the box in question.

<snip>

Wow, I can't believe they would fire the guy who designed the
series!

I don't know if Rob Ellis designed the set - all I know is that he is
the director of that department. Just to make things clear I didn't
write he designed it 'just' that he was in charge of that department.

Yeh, I'm sorry I mistook that statement the wrong way.  Either way, I
couldn't understand why they would fire the guy.

Did the report actually say they 'fired' him, or was it more that he 'decided to concentrate on his golf' or some other
wishy washy statement. Did he jump or was he pushed as we might say?
I can understand them having a 'falling out' over the withdrawl of the set, or perhaps the cancellation of future Ogel
sets I believe were in the pipeline, and as a result them agreeing to 'part company'.
I assume firing isn't very easy with Danish employment laws, so I can't imagine them even being allowed to fire him in
reaction to this one event.

lawrence

I agree lawrence!  I think there must be more to it than that!  It just
sounded odd that they would fire a guy because of a recall!  I can't imagine
them justifying that type of punishment!  We probably will never know the
real story!
As for an update on my question of whether Lego changed their mind on the
recall, I got my answer today at the Walmart.
I tried to buy a couple of the sets they had and when the cashier scanned
them, they came up as "Sale Not Allowed!"  I played dumb and let the cashier
try and figure out why they wouldn't ring up.  She called the Toy deparment
and they couldn't tell her.  So the supervisor came by and they managed to
get the register to show the price, but it still wouldn't scan.  So they
overrode the scanner and put them in as just "Lego" and let me buy them.  I
figure that somebody found them in the back and put them on the shelves
without knowing why they were pulled.  Oh well, they won't have to worry
with those two sets now.  hehhehheh  "I just hope someone doesn't get fired
over selling them to me!" lol
