Collection status and time —Felipe Coury
Hi, I am very curious about the pace that my collection grows then I decided to do a quick survey in order to compare. Can you guys tell us approximatedly how many pieces you have and how long have you been collecting them? TIA, -- Felipe G. Coury (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —Jeff Jardine
(...) Hi Felipe, My story is very similar to yours. I've been collecting for one year, which was preceeded by a 15 year dark age. In the span of one year, I have collected 10,000 - 12,000 pieces from around 40 sets. Unfortunately, I don't have any (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —Eric Kingsley
(...) Well for me it goes something like this... ~5-15 7,500 - 10,000 pieces 16-28 Dark Ages 29-31 125,000 - 150,000 pieces Most of the 29-31 was collected in late 1999 to mid 2000. The only real big addition in terms of parts since mid 2000 was 40 (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —John D. Forinash
(...) Fewer than I thought, I think. This week I went through and looked up set numbers and piece counts and added up how many pieces I should have given all the set instructions I have. The number was much smaller than I expected. Thankfully, I (...) (24 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —Thomas D. Fulk, Jr.
(...) Since November 1999 when I left my dark ages (Wednesday of Thanksgiving week to be exact) , my collection has grown by a little more than 36,000 pieces. My Pre-Dark-ages collection was very small, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 pieces. (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hi Felipe, My rate of expansion goes something like this: From ages 2 to 15: about 15 000 pieces From ages 15 to 18: Dark Ages From ages 18 to 24: about 140 000 pieces Of course, I don't believe that you will get 2 people who answer the same (...)          Re: Collection status and time —John D. Forinash
(...) Indeed. What matters ain't what you've got, what matters is what you can build. And I've run across some really impressive Microfig spaceships running around that don't take but a dozen parts, so you don't have to have lots of parts to build (...)         Re: Collection status and time —Frank Filz
(...) My collection is somewhere between 250,000 and 500,000 (probably closer to 250,000), collected since February 1999 (or so - too lazy to dig out when I actually started). In theory the rate of growth has slowed, but then I'm still waiting on a (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —James Brown
(...) I'm somewhere around 150,000 - 200,000 pieces. I'm really not sure. I know I have a lot more than can be accounted for by the sets listed in my collection, because I don't track trades, auction/sale purchases, or parts I keep from sets I sell. (...)         Re: Collection status and time —Matt Brooks
(...) Hmm... Well, I've been collecting since I was 7 years old. I'm 22 now. I just counted last night, and I found that I have 223 individual sets. This doesn't count repeated buyings (which I do rarely, but may account for about 10 more sets) or (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —Ed Mayhall
(...) I had a bin of legos from when I was younger. Set 555 and one of the 1987 space sets. I saw the MovieMaker set in Nov. and fell in love. Got it the day before Christmas with some gift certificates I got early. Well since Dec 24 my wife and I (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

     (...) I began collecting again on March 25, 1999. I have 11,740 pieces. In 1999 I accumulated 3,674 pieces, in 2000 it was 7,611, and thus far in 2001 I have added 455 pieces. james (24 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.general)

Re: Collection status and time —Gary Istok
Here's my take on this: I was 6 years when I got my first LEGO...... 1960 - 500 pieces. (one year before LEGO in USA, but relative in Germany sent it) 1965 - 3000 pieces 1968 - 5000 pieces 1969-79 (Dark Ages, but kept all my old LEGO) 1979 - 15,000 (...)
