  Unexpected Email Message

Lately I've been once again griping about trivial Star Wars issues, specifically dealing with the Padme/Amidal "ruse" in TPM. Out of nowhere I suddenly received an "Out of Office Autoreply: Padme Naberrie" from Fraser Lovatt: Thank you for your (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I believe it's because he probably subscribes to that particular newsgroup via email. When your post goes in, LUGNET forwards it off to his email account. And since he's apparently away, he's set up an auto-reply for his account, which (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Dave, I've gotten that message too. I believe he subscribes to the newsgroup via email, so it autoreplies anyone who sends him mail - which in this case was you (via the lugnet newsgroup). Perhaps if this is a nuisance someone from the group should (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) Does that mean his mailbox will be stuffed full of LUGNET.STARWARS postings when he gets back? Yikes, that's a lot of reading! Dave! (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

(...) I get 2-3 of these every time I post to the robotics group. People seem to have forgotten the standard netiquette of unsubscribe to lists when you go on vacation. (Or at least filtering them around your vacation message.) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

GOOD auto-responders only send a reply to any one address ONCE. People will probably get an autoresponder from my email next week, since I am on the .lsahs email list. Yeah, well, I don't have any control over it (Corporate America, you know) - it has to send that one. (...) | Please do not associate my personal views with my employer (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: Unexpected Email Message

(...) Hmm, that's too bad. :-( I thought auto-responders were supposed to look at the X-Precedence header of the SMTP message and not respond if the value was set to 'list' or 'bulk'. --Todd [followups to .off-topic.geek] (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)
