Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Alan Shutko
(...) It wasn't. The apparent point being that you can use these sets to make non-Star Wars models. (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Lee Jorgensen
The 'Mech that you can create with the alt-XWing seems pretty interesting. Might have to pick up a couple of these to have several models built at once ... (...) -- Lee Jorgensen, Programmer/Analyst - Bankoe Systems, Inc. (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Mike Stanley
(...) Yeah, and in the case of the hovercraft thing with Luke and that old dude, you can make a really goofy-looking one that doesn't look like much of anything. :) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Uh, yes. That was what I meant to say. Sorry for being unclear. Some sets the last years have come without any alternate models at all, so I'm happy to see that the Star Wars sets have. Take Time Cruisers as an example (no alternate models), (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Mike Stanley
(...) Hrmmm.... as much as I don't like either TC or TT, I think the point could be made that the entire line is nothing but alternate models. (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Steve Bliss
(...) You weren't. I was trying to be funny. (...) Isn't it funny (and a bit sad) how the SW sets are more "LEGO" than the regular System sets (ie, Adventurers, Town Center, etc.). The new pieces are less specialized, the sets build reasonable (...) (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Mike Stanley
(...) Almost makes you wonder if Lucas made some sort of demand that the sets be more traditional and less like the crap TLG is making for the other themes now. (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Selçuk Göre
(...) That's exactly what came to my mind, while reading Larry's dear lego post, stating that a clueless "brainy" from TLG expresed that "juniorization" is the way to go for all sets, and TLG is happy with that. Selçuk (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Steve Bliss
(...) I wondered that, too. It makes some sense--Lucas can pick and choose their licensees. So if they contract with LEGO, it's because they want to see Star Wars in LEGO form. So why make it in a watered-down, Star Wars, Jr. style? Steve (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —John VanZwieten
(...) I'm with you on this one. With the previously noted exception of the town junior double-sloped piece for the x-wing rear landing gear, I'm very impressed with the construction and new piece selection of the SW sets. I'm going to have to buy (...) (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Steve Bliss
(...) That's what I had expected when the whole SW-LEGO thing started. An X-wing made out of maybe a dozen pieces. Steve (26 years ago, 24-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Alan Shutko
(...) Yikes. If they could have come up with an alternate model for most TC stuff which used most of the pieces, I'd have been quite impressed. Those are some really weird things! (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego Has updated its online Catalog!! —Thomas Main
(...) Didn't you guys try to look at the Time Cruisers models through the special glasses included in each set? The Twisted Time Train looks like the Metroliner with the green glasses and the 7740 Intercity train with the red glasses. Notice the (...) (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)
