For Your Eyes Only !!! —Jean-marc Détraz
Lego art has reached a new standard! Maybe not the highest priced Lego in eBay history, but certainly the highest opening bid I have ever seen. Is this really made of Lego pieces? What's your opinion? (URL) a real beauty, but way outta my price (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) eBay (...) It looks like it is just a test post, hence its astronomical opening bid. 'Course, I could be wrong. Jeff (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yeah, but either way she's gotta pay the *fee* on the damnable thing! ...I'll bet the Queen Amidala one of us LUGNETters build would not only be more impressive an item in auction, but might actually fetch that much! best Lindsay (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Also, consider the fact of how EASY it would be to recreate this thing form parts we all have laying around. I would guesstimate only 2000 pieces in the work. If you printed a nice quality copy of the auction list, I think it would be easy enough to (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Ah. Interesting. When does something shade over from being a design or decoration to a work of art? Theoretically, if I copy a work of art, even if I get it exactly right, it's a forgery... If Lego Bricks are the medium, is that still true? Is (...)            Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Eric Brouwer
(...) I would say any MOC could be considered a work of art. It is the "artist" who puts the pieces in a certain arrangement, creating a new piece out of other smaller pieces. (...) True a person's reproduction would be a forgery, but unless someone (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Eric Brouwer
The lister wrote me back. It was just a MOC by the average fan of the brick. The listing was to test Auctionwatch.com. They really didn't plan on selling the item. Although if that minimum bid is met, who could turn down the cash!?! (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Ray Sanders
(...) I was curious, so I looked it up. Insertion Fee: $2.00 Final Value Fee: $153.52 (based on the opening bid) The Final Value Fee only applies if she gets a bid. Otherwise, its the $2 listing fee. A Reserve Price AUction would have been (...) (25 years ago, 25-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Shiri Dori
(...) eBay (...) Oh my gosh! That is one expensive lot! I would've bid, I have $11,123 to spare, but the 21 cents - sorry, that's too much for me ;-) -Shiri (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: For Your Eyes Only !!! —Ian Sinclair
(...) Looks like Lego... 2x3 bricks maybe. (...) It is quite nice... But the seller gives zero information about the artist. Unless it's someone really famous, I don't see anyone buying this at this price. I think someone is testing the Ebay market (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jan-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)
