Jake, I have filled out your questions. But some important remarks: In the last years I spend aprox. 1200 Euro each year for LEGO. This year I will spend 0 Euro! (...) I think there's another point that is clear if you read between the lines. I suspect that the vast majority of TLC's revenue comes from sales to retail outlets (TRU, Walmart, Target, etc.). Apart from what's already been mentioned; I had trouble with the hours per day question. There were alternatives like 1-2 and 3-4 but I estimate it to 2-3 hours per day. I took the lower number here. Hope to see the results later on! (22 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.general)

Great conspiracy theory, but I think it would be too difficult in practice to get the same amount of each color in each batch of recycled ABS - otherwise you'd have variation in the new colors from batch to batch.
