  FOTW: 8720 & 8480

Hi All, I found this one a few weeks back, but didn't get around to mentioning it here. I was cruising the local thrift stores and found an 8720 Technic Power Pack at Goodwill. Not being a Technic sort of guy (1), I saw it and thought, ho hum, then (...) (26 years ago, 29-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About that FAQ ...

(...) This is an excellent approach to a LUGNET Faq. Which, I have grown convinced, is the bigger need. An r.t.l alt-faq can easily grow out of such a thing as well, but a LUGNET faq fairly screams from the sort of cooperation I think would make a (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Whither Pause?

Lou, are you going to come out of retirement to build a "new for '99" page for lugnet/pause? :^) -- jthompson@teubner.com "Float on a river, forever and ever, Emily" (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About that FAQ ...

Why not an alternative FAQ?? The unauthorised, Kitty Kelly version, for instance? Quote, and give credit to, where it is due, or reference it extensively? It could be the official Lugnet FAQ/unofficial RTL FAQ.... Larry Pieniazek wrote in message (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Pre-ordering Star Wars

(...) I suppose it depends on who is primarily responsible for the marketing and distribution. I suspect that if Lego is the only one saying what will happen, then it will hit stores much like other 'themes', except with a bit more hype, and a (...)   Pre-ordering Star Wars

Has anyone done it yet? Based on the Pause listed prices, it will be about $115 retail for the initial five sets. Figure 10% or so S@H mark-up and it's about $125 to reserve your first Star Wars Lego for delivery. This is certainly doable, but I'm (...)   Re: About that FAQ ...

(...) I think Todd has a neat idea technically. However my concern with multiple FAQs is the divisiveness factor betweeen RTL and LUGNET. Multiple FAQs within LUGNET would be very cool. Tom does not "own" the right to be the keeper of the FAQ. Nor (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About that FAQ ...

(...) Say, Jeff, what do you think about a special multi-FAQ where questions (and their answers) could appear in multiple newsgroups? That is, what if you were to restructure the "main" FAQ something like this?-- Main FAQ file = Header List of (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About that FAQ ...

(...) I'd expressed interest in updating and revising the FAQ back in August and contacted Tom. Todd's post on r.t.l referenced that. Tom's response was that he would be happy to have submissions to the FAQ be emailed to him; he wasn't interested in (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: Two new Technic sets - Mini review

(...) I assume that the headlight parts on the 8880 are screened because they are 2x4 "top" slopes, and hence has a rugged surface, unsuitable for putting decals on. The same goes for the 8422, or rather, they are screened because the headlights (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: 20% off clearance at Zany Brainy 12/26-12/31

I'm working on it. I need to trade for/buy extra wheels (and other parts from the set, like the red and black macaroni bricks), and I'll start off with a flatbed trailer, and then start gathering red and black 1x bricks to enclose the trailer. THAT (...) (26 years ago, 28-Dec-98, to lugnet.general)
