| | Homemade Xmas Gift: Magazine Rack from LEGO Bricks
|

A couple of years ago, I got irritated by a stack of magazines laying around the house and decided to throw together a quick little holder for them using some DUPLO bricks. Later on my mother-in-law spotted it and asked if I would build her one. (...) (20 years ago, 24-Dec-04, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.fun.holiday, FTX) !

(...) We just received our card today, and I wanted to give you a public thank you. The card it wonderful! My daughter had a great time setting up the scene and telling me the (entirely too long) story of The Little Drummer Boy. Thanks again! -Elroy (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.fun.holiday, FTX)

(...) Yeah, that also struck me as very odd. It hardly seems like LEGO to be so discouraging, and besides, what's so impossible about an 8'x9' LEGO menorah anyhow? I'm wondering if "It can't be done" was not LEGO's answer to "Is it possible to build (...) (20 years ago, 21-Dec-04, to lugnet.fun.holiday, FTX)

| | 8x9 foot LEGO menorah constructed in Burlingame, CA
|

I found out about this too late to go see it in action, but apparently a rabbi in Burlingame, CA (just south of San Francisco) built an 8-foot-tall, 9-foot-wide menorah, complete with candle holders and electric lights. Here an article about it a (...) (20 years ago, 18-Dec-04, to lugnet.mediawatch, lugnet.fun.holiday)
