I cannot see an easy way to make a contestant MOC, for either the Sumo, Pipe
Racer or Maze competitions without having to include a Mindstorms or
Spybotics CPU, but I would love to be proved wrong by someone :)

There was also Rob Stehlik’s “Monkey Entry” at RTL9 (Show me the Moneky).
He built his on a “battery box” principle. Now internal processing...No RCX
or other like system. The battery box controlled the power, and it shut
itself by itself when there was no wrungs left. It was amazing how fast the
“robot” was able to complete the task.
...but alas I doubt the average competitor could design a bot that works
with the competition without RCX/Spybotics interface.
