  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

(...) On the other hand, of course, it may not be as attractive an option for those who wish to drive (18 years ago, 17-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

I'd love to see Brickfest move to a central location, but be careful before you decide to become a traveling show. Conventions like Origins in the gaming world have historically performed unpredictably from year to year depending on the venue, while (...) (18 years ago, 16-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

When I was talking about perhaps having some kind of "exchange program" within the fest community--This is the kind of thing I was thinking of that should make the rounds. (URL) (18 years ago, 16-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

After reading all this thread and all of it's jockeying, opinions, and rhetoric there is only one answer... VEGAS BABY!!! (18 years ago, 15-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

(...) I really do not think so--BrickFest DC may always be the "granddaddy" but there is plenty of room for others. NW BrickCon has grown every year (and the more it grows, the better for me-if they still continue to get their badges from me). They (...) (18 years ago, 15-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

(...) - Mucho snippo - (...) Comparisons with SF cons are pretty valid - especially if you consider HoB's affiliation with one in Chicago. In the end, I think it'll come down to fan saturation and "market" pressures - what venues will be able to (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

Hey, Ever hear of WorldCon. It's The premiere SciFi con, it moves every year and groups compete/bid for 2-3 years in advance to host it. So I see no reason why brickfest in all its glory could not become similar. I for one have never been to, and (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

(...) I think our hobby is large enough to sustain multiple fests. Sure, most folks will only attend one per year. Other folks are willing, able, and excited, to attend multiple. That said, most hobbies also have one major event per year. In some (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

(...) I'm not sure exactly where in DC Brickfest is held, but traffic on the Capitol beltway can be just as horrendous as traffic in Chicago or Atlanta. We've gotten to the point in the US where traffic just about anywhere is maddening. Houston, (...) (18 years ago, 14-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

  Re: BrickFest 2007 location

(...) Well, I don't think that's necessarily the point. I think there are a few sub issues here: 1) There should only be one major Lego convention every year 2) There shouldn't be MORE major Lego conventions every year 3) BrickFest shouldn't divide (...)
