The time expended is certainly a factor, but it's actually more a factor
of expectations. When I do a train show, I usually commit a whole
weekend to it. I would be interested in doing a big blow out show the
world how cool we are at LLC (or LLW, or LLB, or LLG), but I'm not too
interested in being out of pocket a lot of money for such.
So I guess for me, really the biggest factor is one of expectations.
When I got on the BricksWest bandwagon, my expectations were for a fan
con. It turned out to have a very significant show element. It appears
to me that next year it will have more of a show element.
I think NWBrickCon will have less of a show element, but I'm not sure.
Perhaps the cons need to do a better job of managing expectations.
