  FAQ Help

I’m a tad confused by the brickfest faq. I am under 18 (but still out of the recommended age and outside what I assume would be the socially exactable range among peers in my age group) and wish to attend Brickfest on days other than the public (...)   Bricks for Brains at House of Bricks

Greetings, all. As "Bricks for Brains" I present educational, hands-on LEGO(r) building exhibits at schools, museums, and special events. I will be attending Chicago House of Bricks this weekend, where I will display my two scale models (a bridge (...)   Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) Hey, I'm glad I at least got people talking about the idea. I'm thinking that on the side of the room with the lighted mocs, that if we get enough lighted mocs in a somewhat confined area that the lights from the mocs themselves should light (...) (21 years ago, 4-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) If we lower the lights by say 20 to 40%, you'll be able to see the MOCs and the parts that compose them. Perhaps. We just need the lights in the MOCs to be visible. Lowering the overhead lights or having a light source that permits the (...) (21 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) I thought the dark room idea was that the models would be in darkness SOME of the time... to see the other details, come back when the lights are on? But maybe I wasn't quite following the concept. (21 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) Also, total darkness means it's hard to see OTHER details of the MOCs, which from my experience at BF, are generally more in number, and almost as much (sometimes more) in WOW! factor. ROSCO (21 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) -snip- (...) Hey I had this idea and I wanted to toss it out there: You know the large meeting room on the 3rd floor of the GMU, the one where we hold the Key Note and other programs where we all gather..... Just a thought, but if you used (...) (21 years ago, 3-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: Brickfest dark room

(...) Yes, 9V lights work on a train controller. I have never burned one out using that as the power source. Jude (21 years ago, 2-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Brickfest dark room

Ok, fine, lets do this as a open theme room. I'm thinking we do one side of the room in blacklight for all those nifty trans neon colors and the other side as dark as safety will allow for the people who want to do stuff with lighted brick. If you (...) (21 years ago, 2-May-05, to lugnet.events)

  Re: BrickFest 2005 Event Kit

(...) DUDE! That would be an awesome model for USD 10.00! Do you have the parts sources to supply 200 copies at that price point? If you do, you've got my vote! (not that we're voting)... If not... er... well... nice try. (21 years ago, 2-May-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

(...) Maybe that train needs a BNSF logo (as in Bionicle Northern-Santa Fe)? EG...I couldn't resist the jab... Scott (21 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: An Idea for Brickfest? Feedback appreciated

(...) If you're going ahead with this, leave it open to anybody who wants to display a MOC in the "dark room". Lit up space, town, sculpture, train, whatever. It's all good. Adrian (21 years ago, 30-Apr-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

Re: An Idea for Brickfest? Feedback appreciated

Ok, There seems to be enough interest in this to run with it. Now the question seems to be do we present this as a moonbase or do we present it as just a collection of mocs? I was kinda leaning towards moonbase but if thier is a lot of people who (...) (21 years ago, 30-Apr-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

My one warning would be to check with the event insurance company. They wll likely say something alon gthe lines of guide lights (i.e. light ropes and emergency exit lighting) would be a minimum to prevent a noticeable incerease in the cost of said (...) (...) For folks (like me) who have had crowns, caps or other dental work, just remember this.... if you smile in a dark room with UV lights, your smile is going to make you look like a smiling Halloween Jack-O-Lantern! Gary Istok (21 years ago, 28-Apr-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest)
