  Duplo-name confirmed to be reborne

TLC has confirmed, that the name DUPLO is to be re-launched for pre-school bricks. The change from DUPLO to Lego Explore has costed the company about a billion Danish Kroner. The article (in Danish!): (URL) Copenhagen (21 years ago, 2-Feb-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo) !!

  Duplo Zooters

I was just at a local Bartell Drugs and came across Duplo Zooters for the first time. Goofy little sets, but my 2 year-old and my 6 year-old are having a lot of fun with them. They only had the green Goozle 3263 and the red Tez 3264, for $9.99 each. (...) (21 years ago, 10-Jan-04, to lugnet.duplo)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

I'd heard that the change of name from Duplo had been received very badly in Lego's traditional markets of Germany and Denmark. It's a poor show though for any modern company that there's so much inertia (read: spent money) in a re-branding that (...) (21 years ago, 9-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo, FTX)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

I can't tell you how many people I have helped in the Lego aisle this past year. People looking for Duplo size Lego were confused. These people were buying products for children that were not their own. (Individuals not familiar with the product (...) (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo)

Re: LEGO fires CEO Plougman - concentrates on bricks

(...) In the Danish TV tonight Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen said, thet the change from Duplo to Explorer had been a fatal mistake, as the sales had HALVED!! So, yes, I guess that'll mean that they'll return to the DUPLO branding. Arne, Copenhagen (21 years ago, 8-Jan-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.duplo)

Re: BtB, 3273 Lofty & the Mice problem?

(...) My daughters and I have had the same experience - it's most definitely a 'bug' in my opinion. Reassembling Lofty got old real fast! He's now become more of a display piece - like the Wright Flyer - Very low whooshability! (21 years ago, 6-Jan-04, to lugnet.duplo)

BtB, 3273 Lofty & the Mice problem?

Hi, I've bought my 2.5 years old son 3273 Lofty crane. Set is nice, but the problem is that front and back parts of the car chassis are too easy to disconnect. It's not possible by 'drive' it by the cabin, nor lift it in the air - the parts go apart (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jan-04, to lugnet.duplo)

(...) "Profanity is the parlance of the fool. Why curse when we have such a magnificent language with which to discourse?" -Theodore Roosevelt, United States of America's 26th President I've left other forums on cause of profanity and vulgarity.   Jon Palmer and Richard Marchetti banished to the Phantom Zone

(...) I swoop down from yonder mountain top on my Mecha to dispense justice for all. Jon Palmer and Richard Marchetti are hearby banished to .duplo and .primo respectively for the period of no less than 24 hours as is custom here on LUGNET. They may (...)   Re: When did Duplo blocks switch from Lego to Duplo?

(...) Hi Cynthia, While I don't know exactly when the bricks began saying DUPLO inside the studs (my guess is the late 80's), from what I understand they have switched back to saying LEGO once again (this appears to have been happening gradually (...) (21 years ago, 18-Nov-03, to lugnet.duplo)

Re: When did Duplo blocks switch from Lego to Duplo?

(...) I hope I'm redundant in saying that the smaller bricks fit on top of the Duplo/Explore bricks. If you're building large scale, they are really helpful working as filler space on the inside of a project. However, as I learned from SCLTC, when (...) (21 years ago, 17-Nov-03, to lugnet.duplo)

When did Duplo blocks switch from Lego to Duplo?

I just discovered this wonderful website! *** My son has outgrown his duplo blocks and I'm getting ready to sell them to buy him regular Legos. Some were bought new for him, some were yardsale finds. Some are complete sets, most are loose basic (...) (21 years ago, 17-Nov-03, to lugnet.duplo)

Re: Looking for an old DUPLO set

(...) This set was listed as #1957 in the program for the LEGO auction in Sacramento last year. The year of release is listed as 1985. Two different sets that had the number #1957 were auctioned off: a "Preschool Basic Building Set" containing only (...) (21 years ago, 21-Sep-03, to lugnet.duplo, FTX)

Re: Looking for an old DUPLO set

(...) That was a storage bag. The bunny was red plush with a rope carry handle, zipper along the back, and a Duplo or Lego logo keychain. I've seen the bag several times, but I don't know which set it came with. It may have been an 'extra' attached (...) (21 years ago, 14-Sep-03, to lugnet.duplo, FTX)

Looking for an old DUPLO set

I'm looking for an old DUPLO (I think) set that came in a bunny rabbit (pink, I think) looking bag. Does anyone know the set number or have any images of it? Thanks, -AHui A&M LWorks (URL) (21 years ago, 13-Sep-03, to lugnet.duplo, FTX)
