Interesting. Although I really wish they'd get back to putting more printed
LEGO logo bricks in sets, like the old LEGOland series had. The only recent
one I know of it the Yoda set, which uses one in the back.

I'm not sure why that would violate their fair usage rules. In fact, I've
seen the LEGO logo done up as a mosaic and I'm sure that builder hasn't been
hounded by the lawyers.

To play devil's advocate: What are you going to do with the logo that might
be considered 'incorrect use'?
And why wouldn't you be able to take pictures? Does that mean that anyone
who has built an official Yoda sculpture (including the logo brick) can't
take a picture of it to show other builders?

I'm also confused. As noted above, I'm really wondering what it is that you
intend to do with the logo that you feel might offend the company?
Given the out-reach of the company to the fan 'community' in the last few
years, I don't see them clamping down on people for building models that
incorporate their bricks, their ideas(1) and yes, even their logo. Rather
than causing trouble for you, I would suggest that unless you are using
their logo illegally, then most companies would love to have you display
their logo for them. Why does Nike put their logo on t-shirts? To sell
t-shirts? Or to get you to do free advertising for them?
Taking the LEGO name and using it in a web address is something that they
rightly restrict. Using the logo on a webpage and somehow pretending to
represent the company is something they definitely don't allow. But just
using their logo (provided by them) in a model you are displaying for the
world seems a safe move to me. Are you intending to sell the model? Or,
are you intending to make the logo sticker a focus of the model's design?
Perhaps there are reasons to be concerned, but I can't see too many.
Lucky for you the stickers are stickers.... you don't have to use them if
you don't want. :)

Allan B.
(1) How many people simply post a pic of an official model to Brickshelf?
Nothing wrong with that. You're just showing the world how much you like
LEGO models. Free advertising for the company.

| I had thought I'd read, right here on lugnet, that pictures which depicted the Lego logo were not permitted on Brickshelf. Perhaps I'm wrong, in which case please forgive for bring the subject up. best JB (...) (22 years ago, 19-May-03, to lugnet.dear-lego)
