 Dear LEGO / 2372 (-20)
  Those awful construction sets

I have a local store in my area that is selling those construction overpass thing set for $27.50 or so (I think this was originally $80.00) . They have been on the shelf at that price for almost a month and I am not even temped to buy them. Tim (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Will Lego Learn a lesson?

(...) Even the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida does this[1]. I can tell you from experience[2]. eric 1]Oddly enough, it happens more around Christmastime than in the summer. 2]No, I didn't get turned away, because I had an Annual (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Will Lego Learn a lesson?

(...) Actually, from what I've read they've done somewhat better than expected. that was the reason given for the accelerated park expansion. (legoland has recently applied for building permits for a number of new attractions which had previously (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Will Lego Learn a lesson?

(...) No, not sure. I haven't seen the figures firsthand, but from what I've read in two articles (reviewing the park), and from an 'inside' source, it hasn't been doing as well as they'd wanted-- basically, it sounded like a flop from all accounts.   Re: Will Lego Learn a lesson?

(...) In general, I agree... I think there's a lot of reasons Lego's losing money, though. 1. Legoland Theme Parks - The plan was (as I recall) to release parks every 3 years around the world. Certainly the most recent in Carlsbad cost them FAR more (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

Whoa, what? Discontinued? Granted I've only ever seen one 8448 in a brick & mortar store and that was months ago, but I assumed it would be in the Shop at Home catalog for the next year at least. I was going to order one in January or so, do I need (...) (24 years ago, 15-Aug-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) According to rumor, there were trademark issues with the "Indy Storm" name, so they just decided to pull the entire model. Quite a shame! (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: 8458 Silver Champion is incredible!

(...) Wow hold on a minute! Just because 8457 and 8458 are released does not means 8448 is gone right away. 8445 was gone pretty quick though. I wonder if we will ever see a technic catalogue like the one in 1996... (24 years ago, 14-Aug-00, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: New theme suggestion - Roman Era

(...) Thinking this over, I have to admit that though Britain seems like a different sort of situation, I'm not versed enough to make generalizations.
