The trojan war?  How about a big lego horse with minifigs hiding in it?  A
menotar. The cyclops.  Medusa minifig hair.  :)  Greek warships with • oarsmen.
What would greek fire look like?  Just imagine white 2x2x11 column pieces in
vast quantities.

Prefer 2x2x1 column pieces. Use Technic axles for stability,
if that is why you prefer 2x2x11's.

Technic axles do allow very stable columns.

I can imagine appreciating the 11-tall column elements for
their smoothness (rather than having their clean lines interrupted
every brick-height) .... but having a bunch of 2x2x1 rounds would
be much more flexible in terms of building OTHER things.

The clean lines are indeed interrupted, but some Greek and
Egyptian ruins' columns are in bad shape, and have that similar
look to them, so....a slight degree of realism!
If LEGO were to make greek sets and include 11-tall column elements,
I'd want the columns to be grooved (what's the fancy term for this?)
with the typical vertical grooves ... making them even less useful
in other contexts.  If they're gonna make them POOPy, might
as well go whole hog and quite decorative.

Or at the very least like the octagonal column elements. But Grooved
in the proper fashion would be much, much better. But still,
I'd be much happier with 2x2x1's!
