Chin-Guard or Chinstrap?

I'm partial to Chin-Guard.  A chinstrap is a miniature belt that braces
itself against your chin to hold your helmet onto your head.  A
chin-*GUARD* on the other hand protects your chin.

I agree with the idea, but is "Chin-Guard" a standard word?  It's not in
either dictionary.com or m-w.com (I really need to get my books out of
storage. . .) and a Google search on "chin-guard" turns up Chin Guard and
Chinguard, but the only results for Chin-Guard on the first three pages
are from Peeron.  (Incidentally, I greatly prefer Chin-Guard to
Chin-guard.)
