    2x4 brick colors —Bruce Hietbrink
Hi all, I was just sorting my bucket of 2x4 bricks. I put them in 4x4 stacks by color, then break those stacks into 20 brick units. Anyway, I'm obsessive enough to count them, and this is what I got: Light gray: 418 Black: 338 Red: 176 Dark gray: (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: 2x4 brick colors —Troy Cefaratti
(...) I believe it is because many of the "non-standard" colors are often used as accent/detail pieces in sets, or for decorative purposes. As such, you end up with them in the smaller sizes and in oddball parts. It is rare for a set to be made up (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: 2x4 brick colors —Bruce Hietbrink
(...) That's certainly true. It's really frustrating to have a mere handful of parts in some color (for instance, I think I have exactly two purple 1x2 bricks from some Harry Potter set and no other purple (leaving aside some minifig torsos)), so (...)      (...) I don't think it's fair to say that you could "never" build a MOC with those color schemes. I built (URL) house> with only purple parts from 6 copies of the (URL) Mini Knight's Bus>. I'd guess that you could build a house from one copy of the (...) (19 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

   (...) Actually, according to Peeron, it's the piece that has the 3rd most available colors! (URL) Number Part Name # of Colors ---...--- 1 3005 Brick 1 x 1 40 2 3004 Brick 1 x 2 38 3 3001 Brick 2 x 4 37 4 3020 Plate 2 x 4 36 5 3023 Plate 1 x 2 35 6 (...)         Re: 2x4 brick colors —Bruce Hietbrink
(...) Wow, that's a surprise. I guess when I looked at the color table on Peeron I mainly was struck by the fact that up until a few years ago the 2x4 brick was only in a small number of colors. This does seem to have changed in the past couple of (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: 2x4 brick colors —Bryan Wong
(...) You have less than 20,000 pieces in your collection? Wow - it sure doesn't look like that based on your creations... I have over 160,000 pieces (probably average for an AFOL) and none of the stuff I've built comes even close to the "grandeur" (...) (19 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: 2x4 brick colors —Jason Spears
(...) I'd like to echo Bryan on this. All the creations you do with only 20K or so, is inspiring. I've told people at train shows that it's possible to build great things will small collections, but I've not tried it myself. Sitting at around 300K (...)
