Them darn Vikings were everywhere. Varangian guard for the Byzantines,
tricking their way into Italian cities ("Urm, big place, must be Rome, let's
sack it"), beseiging Paris, establishing Dublin, colonizing Kiev. I don't
think you give them enough credit. ;-)

They weren't long on standardized livery to my knowledge. Post-Viking age
(mostly post Stamford Bridge) things change, of course.
