Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) white (...) nothing (...) [coughing] rip-off [end coughing] Can you say Two Towers the second book of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Any other medieval fantasy is pretty much a rip-off of Tolkien's work. While it may not be the best reading it (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) While Tolkien has no equal, I take exception to your statements. There are many "medieval fantasies" that are not derivatives of Tolkien, but the demand for them wouldn't exist if not for Tolkien. Undoubtedly there are some less original (...)   Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) Absolutely right. On the other hand, the reason why Tolkien's stuff is so much better than the scads of imitators is because it's a 'first-generation copy' rather than second or third. Tolkien did such extensive research into the reality of (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

  Ceasar Legos???

Me and a friend were discussing lego themes when we began to think about a roman theme. Stacking white colored barrels would make a good pillar. I'm not sure if you can stack the large barrels, but if you can that would be even better. NICK :-L (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Ceasar Legos???

(...) Hey! Good idea! You are proof that this good idea continues to be a good idea to lots of new people! Consider becoming an "Ancient Theme" fan! There have probably been fans of this idea as long as there has been Lego, but recently we have got (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

6-sided Pillar Idea, was Re: Ceasar Legos???

The other night I wanted a fluted pillar. One where the lines run vertical! Messing around with my Belville parts box I hit upon the following: Take a 6-sides flower, the kind that come with Ages 2-5 sets, or Milimy sets. (Classic Set 4215 on (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Robert Jordan WOT (was Re: Harry Potter Lego Line)

(...) Right on target! George R.R. Martin seems to be a "writer's writer" because I hear his name from people on author panels and invariably nobody in the room recognizes it! Since you said it again I must now look him up! You know what is funny (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jul-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)

Howdy all .castle folk. Now that Lugnet is running as usual again, it's time to do something that's been absent for a few months. At Shiri's behest, I'm gonna take a survey. My first one, so bear with me. OK, let's get started, shall we? 1. What is (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle) !
