Now here's something to ponder...

What's your favorite castle set made by TLC (no MOCs Please :-)? And please
explain *why*. I'm really interested.

I'd have to say 6080 King's Castle.  I have wanted it since I was five years
old, and it is on my list of "must haves".  I think I like it because it
reminds me of real castles more than any other.  :)  It is closely followed by
6081.  It was the first castle to reside on a raised baseplate (which I happen
to like, BTW), and I think it used the layout of it *very* well.  :)  It also
has cool figures, and two black 2x2x3 corner slopes.

Personally I don't see what's so great about the YC... sure, it has no prefab
pieces, it's the first castle set ever... but I just don't see what's so
amazing about it.

I think its the fact that it is "classic" has a lot to do with it.  I want it
for the 'figs, the windows, and the corner slopes.  ;)

Other castles that I saw in catalogs look nice, as a catalog-kid I used to
admire 6081... then again, I might've only admired it because it was a castle,
regardless to what was in it. :-) All I know is that I vividly remember myself
looking at the catalog and hoping to get "that cool set"... same with 6086,
when it came out. OTOH, 6082 wasn't really something to look up to IMO, even
back then (altho' the DMs as a whole seemed VERY cool).

Oh, I know how that is!  :)  I probably spent a half an hour most nights just
examining those sets.  I got to know them so well that I could duplicate them
fairly well, with nothing more than the catalog image.  :)

Jeff

P.S.  If everything goes well, this should be the 4000th post.  :)

I don't have enough castle sets to judge, and I want to know what everyone thinks. I'd really rather (...) (25 years ago, 3-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)
