Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) Not *wrong* - just something that scares off lots of people... Shipping costs. The runner of the auction lives in Germany - there's a $10 fee for exchange rates, + minimum $10 shipping... My guess would be, people don't wanna take risks with (...) (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) Yeah, I'll second that-- with either $10 or $20 shipping and a $10 "bank fee", (unless you want to pay CASH [rather dangerous]), that's between $20 and $30 more than the listed price. In addition, there's also wait time. In the US, shipping (...) (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) Coupled with the fact that 6066 wasn't that *great* a set anyway. I certainly wouldn't pay $60+ for one, not even new in the box. Heck, I doubt I'd pay the original retail price for one new in the box. (25 years ago, 17-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) Those fees seem outrageous too--if you want to pay in an IMO in DM, I guess you could--but I can't possibly see the shipping costing that much by air. Shipping three much larger sets from the UK by air doesn't even cost US$25! I wonder how (...) (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) guess you (...) Shipping (...) 2kg to the US is ~$25 from the UK. As a guide, a 8480 weighs 2kg (unpacked). (...) The UK system is based on a series of weight categories below 2kg. There categories get larger as the weight increases. The (...) (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

I checked on some closed auctions involving some sellers from Germany...very few sets got "great" bids, even for desireable sets like the #6666 Ambulance. Still, it's hard to tell in a market with no set prices. Perhaps two Forestmen Collectors or (...) (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) I weighed the 6066 I am intending to auction and complete with box and instructions I can ship it airmail from UK for $8 with delivery in US in 4-8 days. regards lawrence (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

Re: anything wrong with this auction?

(...) $10 banking fee is actually rather on the cheap side. (...) Surface postage for upto 2kg is ~$8. Premium airmail postage is 250- 500g $11 - 750g $13 -1000g $15 -1500g $19 -2000g $23 as a "small parcel under 2kg". As a proper parcel there's (...)
