The sages are a very old group that travel the kingdom of Auren searching
for artifacts and information. Several have "posts" in places of general
inerest, and it's a well known fact that a sage will quickly apear when
anything imporant happens. In this way, the sages have recorded much of
the history of the kingdom. However, they have never been very eager to
share this information with others.

Oooh, good way to explain the presence and purpose of these structures, and
the interactions between visitors to the posts and those who live there.
Also a good way to present your chapters, as stories written down by the
sages.

Because of his great knowledge of history, the leader of the sages,
the Grand Sage, has long had the responsibility of teaching the heir
to the Auren throne. It has been rumoured that the sages have used this
position to subtly control kingdom politics.

Very nice touch, this is the kind of background politics that fleshes out a
realm and makes it seem real. It also relates one group of people and
structures (Auren) to another (sages), and explains maybe why some of the
buildings have architectural similarities. Personally, I'd model the Grand
Sage after yourself, the master storyteller... ;)

Pictures? Hopefully, I can manage these soon.

You're in the same position as I am: lots of backstory, not a lot of pictures.

Sorry, if this post runs a little long. I created the sages from my
majisto torsos back when the Dragon Master sets brought me out of my
dark ages, and the story has snowballed since.

Heh. I have three hundred lines of backstory notes for my creations, in an
850-line file with everything from translation notes (Japanese words and
phrases translated into people and place names) to sieging army formations.
I also have another 350-line file full of interesting names from a variety of
languages.

I plan to write up the backstory notes into a narrative as it matures into
chapters with pictures. Right now I'm working with Pawel on a chapter (or two)
with Verneer and Ewan and my blacksmith Atsidi. And many many auxiliary
characters. :)

(...) Well, I didn't count how many lines - but I have lots and lots of backstory notes in my head... Just waiting to materialize into a narrative, like yours. Right now I have a 7-part narrative that opens my story (the parts are just for comfort (...) (25 years ago, 6-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) Hey, what a wonderfull idea! I hadn't actually thought about the Sages that way, they were just another group of characters interacting in Auren. I've been wondering what would be the best way to introduce certain important historical facts. (...) (25 years ago, 7-Mar-00, to lugnet.castle)
