This is a great church.  It has a great look from the outside, and the
interior details are fantastic.

Highlights:

Creative roof using the plates at different angles.
Inset windows add great texture.
The candles look real enough to light!
I like the minifig scale.  Small enough to put in a medieval town, yet large
enough to add great details.

Hi all,

At last I managed to complete and photograph another MOC
in my series of dutchesque style creations, a roman church:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=50073

This MOC consists of three parts connected to each other
with technic pegs with removable towers and roofs and
featuring a full interior.

The roofs are built using plates rather than slope bricks.
I used different types of wingplates for constructing the tower
and ambulatorium roofs. This solution was born out of
necessity since I own only small amounts of corner roof
pieces, hence the use of wings as an alternative.
An unintentional sidebenefit to this approach is that it
demonstrates how space stuff can be useful after all ;-)

On top of one of the towers is a golden rooster. These were
used as a means of showing off. Gold being expensive, a large
rooster on a village church was used to show the towns
wealth and thus prestige.

Please note the construction of the round wall for the
ambulatorium as can be seen in:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=457607
When using hinges as done in e.g. Hagrid's Hut one ends up
with cracks in the walls where the hinges are used. This is
avoided here by mounting hinges with the inside of the bend
outwards, so the vertical crack is on the inside of the building
and can be masked by placing interior details in front.

Regards, Twan.
