Based on suggestions and ideas that I received in response to the first
tower, I have made some adjustments and have a new and improved tower
design. The new design, and comparisons to the old, can be found here:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=18792
The use of a new, steeper, stair design allows for more flexibility in
design. The most obvious change is that where the wall sections connect to
the tower have been moved back substantially. This allows the tower to
project outward from the wall enabling covering fire from the tower top as
well at the second level. The entrance door had to mounted at an angle to
allow for this as well.
The rest of the changes were mainly cosmetic, so that the tower doesn't look
so blatantly like the big square box that it truely is. Still working on
this.
Again, the tower comes apart into three pieces, so that you can access all
areas of the tower. Minifigs do still fit up the stairs, although it's a
bit more of a steep climb! ;)
Comments and suggestions for improvements are welcome and appreciated.
