Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) Hi Martin and all others who have asked... you're right! You need a patched version of Povray that is called MLPov 0.83. It looks like the normal povray you all know. But you now can use the needed .hdr-files for luminance and you have some (...) (21 years ago, 23-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) Doing some Googling myself revealed a whole plethora of HDR programs: (URL) what I got out of the page I read, Luminance is the originator of the format. -Orion (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) Googling... Seems to mean 'High Dynamic Range' (URL) a patched version of POVRay - MLPov (URL) still don't know what to use it for, though... -- Anders Isaksson, Sweden BlockCAD: (2 URLs) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) FULL STOP!!!!! sry for double-posting, but it IS possible to use HDRI in POV-Ray. You have to have MLPOV! (Patch for POv-Ray 3.5) Further information: (URL) ask me if they can be treated like normal POV-Files. I don't even have MLPov... (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

Hm I have googled a bit and found out that HDRI is a shader for 3DSMAX, which is a little bit to extreme for me. This program is so strong, that it flattens me. (*cough*) The images are really cool, but it requires much more knowledge of the (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) Okay, here's a comment: I like it. :) I don't know anything about HDRI, so can you explain how you integrate it with a POV file? Also, would it be possible to put one of your pov files containing some hdri stuff in your BrickShelf folder? Good (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

Re: some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

(...) Pardon my ignorance but what's an hdr file? I couldn't find any mention of hdr in the POV-Ray documentation (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

some experiments with HDRI and PovRay

Hi everyone, I just started some experiments with povray and .hdr-files. You can see some of the results in my brickshelf gallery: (2 URLs) Calculation of such pictures is much faster than with the radiosity includes from digitalbricks and others. (...)   Re: Revolutions?

(...) I don't know if you saw this: (URL) other words, I have a render farm. I would be willing to render stuff for your project. James (21 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Revolutions?

(...) I am, but I've already begun...I have a 3:14 movie (done completely with LDRAW tools and POV-Ray stuff) over a third done. Orion said: (...) Someday I'll have a renderfarm, and then I'm going to put it online and make it available for anybody (...) (21 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)

  Re: Revolutions?

(...) I'm really don't have the time for development but since I have a fairly advanced setup I will offer the use of my computer for rendering. -Orion (21 years ago, 19-Mar-04, to lugnet.animation, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Revolutions?

At the moment nearly all pov-ray animations are cyclic and shorter than 10 secs. My idea: A short sketch/movie (~1.5min) or a music-video may be a revolution and may also wake up more enthusiasts, who start to animate too. Such a project requires 2 (...)   Re: Walker from 8891 Animated

Okay... If those two are reacting like that, it have to put the files on my webspace.. :D [773kB] (3 URLs) to understand the file: The Model consists of the following subparts: Assembled.ldr +Body | +-Main | | +-Main_Gear1-5 | +-Left_Arm | | (...)   Walker from 8891 Animated

Well... 8 years ago I didn't own enough parts to build it... Now I do! (virtually, but who cares?)   Re: Animation using Datsville

(...) I wasn't able to pull it off. The ifpov and ifnotpov insert their own if/else statements into the .pov file, itself. They break the if/else statements that I'm trying to create. (21 years ago, 10-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: Animation using Datsville

(...) Oh. I thought you were talking about overlapping walls. I also just remembered that I had used an earlier version of LDBoxer, that replaced bricks regardless of position, to convert Datsville. (21 years ago, 7-Mar-04, to lugnet.cad.ray)
